We live in the digital age, so it seems everyone and their mothers are doing things online or via apps. We can order our groceries online to be delivered to our door within hours and we can order food from our favourite restaurants the same way only to have it at our doorstep within the hour.
We engage with our communities online via platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, etc. Our digital world has embedded itself into every fabric of our physical world, and introduced us to conveniences we could only dream about a decade ago. We interact with technology daily in various forms, sometimes from the moment we wake up to minutes before we fall asleep. With all that being said, the point is, everything has gone online, including the way we socialize.
If everyone is on social media, why are smaller public companies lagging behind? There’s a wealth of knowledge/exposure that is available online, and that too, for free, so it’s time to capitalize on this digital revolution and fine tune your social media strategy.
What is a social media strategy anyway?
It’s one thing to create accounts on Twitter/Facebook/Instagram/Linkedin, but it’s a whole other ball game to populate your feed with effective and consistent branding, while highlighting your Company’s key messaging.
Creating the accounts is the simple part.
Your ability to effectively create and disseminate content to increase brand awareness and reach a wider audience, generate leads and sales, conveniently engage with existing stakeholders, reinforce buying decisions, drive traffic to your site, and create your own buzz is all part of an effective social media strategy.
One way to set yourself up for success is to ensure your branding is consistent across all your online platforms - this will be paramount to your Company’s digital success. If you’re not a word-smith or graphically apt, don’t hesitate to hire the help.
When your social media looks good, it will stand out against your peers and bring more eyes to your Company’s story, and it will keep your existing stakeholders up-to-date on all the latest news and updates - we call that a win-win.
Doing the market research/analysis and consistently staying on top of the latest trends to see what kinds of posts will be most effective has to be embedded into your social media strategy. Don’t be afraid to ‘follow’ your peers in the same or similar jurisdictions to see what they’re doing, this will also be a good measure of what’s working.
Here at Oncom, we take the guesswork out of the equation and do all the heavy lifting for you to ensure your Company has an effective and comprehensive social media strategy to ensure your company stays competitive and top of mind for investors.
